Why Harry Potter Makes Millennials Great
Being raised alongside Harry, Ron and Hermione gave our generation a unique love of school, a profound sense of loyalty to our friends and mentors, and a tremendous capacity to believe in the inherent magic in the world, in each other, and in our dreams. Nourished on this story, our skills barreled towards those distant stars and hidden parts of this world where our imaginations have wandered. We know that it’s possible to build a whole world, a whole universe, founded in belonging, and we know that all around us are people who wish to inhabit it.
We know what a thestral is, a quaffle, an animagus. We know where to find the room of requirement, the great hall, the prefects bath. We know where to find a bisor. we know that the grind, the day-to-day, can be just as fulfilling, as comforting, as magical as the climax, the big defining moments, if crafted and carried out with love.
Harry Potter taught us to love form and function, the mundanity of 18 inches on werewolves, the quills, lumos. Everything with intention. All things great and small, from Dobby to Grorp.
In your life, whenever you can, do beautiful magic. Long live Harry Potter.
